Terrorist Attacks on the World Trade Centre

You are here: Home > World Trade Centre - Terrorist Attacks

I am sad to say that there are some bitter and twisted people in the part of the world we like to call civilised. I used to use a piece of software provided by CoffeeCup. I say 'used to' because shortly after the events of Sept. 11th, 2001, I received the following e-mail from Nicholas Longo, the CEO of CoffeeCup...

Hello everyone,

This is Nicholas Longo, the CEO of CoffeeCup Software. As you may have heard the World Trade Center and Pentagon were attacked about 45 minutes ago.

The Team at CoffeeCup would like to send our heart felt sorrow to those that perished in these attacks.

We would like to also say on record that if any country is found responsible for these attacks, we call for that country's complete destruction and annihilation.

Do not let terrorism which is designed to create fear and stop production, halt your life or work.

Stay focused and do not stop what you are doing.

-May God bless us all and the decisions we must make.

Nick-

I like to think of myself as being a very tolerant person but this e-mail simply rubbed me up the wrong way. Normally, I would not validate this e-mail with a response; it would simply be deleted. However, given his position of some influence and the strength of his words, I felt compelled to express my disappointment in the abuse of his position. I replied with the following...

Please pass these comments back to Nicholas Longo, your CEO.

Thanks

Alex

==========

Nick,

Like you I would like to pass on my heart-felt sorrow about today's events. I also agree that such terrorism in any shape or form should not be tolerated and we must all do our utmost to eradicate such activity.

However, I do believe that your comments with regard to 'We would like to also say on record that if any country is found responsible for these attacks, we call for that country's complete destruction and annihilation.' are completely unwarranted, unnecessary and only add fuel to the hatred and bigotry that is so evident in our lives today.

I am saddened that you felt it necessary and/or justified in sending out such a broadcast e-mail. I, for one, object to receiving such material as I feel it incites further hatred and does nothing to what must be a long-term goal for everyone: resolving the differences and issues between all the nations and religions of this world.

With respect to your business activity, for you it will only be a token gesture ( a drop in your ocean as it were ) but I will never use nor promote your products/services again. I will also attempt to dissuade as many people as I can.

Should you wish to discuss this further (and I would be interested in hearing your response), please feel free to .

Regards

Alex

I fully stand by what I have said above and would urge anyone with any information about this or any other terrorist attack to pass that information on to the police.

With respect to CoffeeCup and their products and services, I would like to suggest to users that they think again about using any CoffeeCup material especially in light of what appears to be a company-wide philosophy. I find it hard to believe that this is a viewpoint held by all CoffeeCup employees. However, Nicholas Longo has expressed an opinion as he sees fit and to the best of his ability; this page is me expressing my opinion as I see fit and to the best of my ability.

I will re-iterate that if anyone wishes to discuss the contents of this page, they are quite welcome to .
