I taught for six hours a week but it didn't end there. Before I started doing this, I was one of the people who said that teachers had an easy life, starting at 9, finishing about 3:30 with six to eight weeks off over the summer. The summer break is a long break but now I firmly believe that it's well deserved. For most of the year, teachers basically put their life on hold.
They may teach for about five hours a day but the rest of the time isn't spent being idle. Preparing lessons, marking students' work, doing paperwork and attending meetings can take about just as long; longer if you want to have a weekend off. That's about ten hours a day! When was the last time you did a ten-hours day? I say a hearty 'Well done!" to all the teachers out there and you go and enjoy your summer break; I know you're earned it.
