I lectured on Introduction to Systems Analysis and Introduction to Systems Design modules as part of the HNC Computing and HNC Business Information Technology (BIT) courses. These courses are run by the University of Central Lancashire's Department of Computing but are provided by a number of affiliated colleges.

I taught for six hours a week but it didn't end there. Before I started doing this, I was one of the people who said that teachers had an easy life, starting at 9, finishing about 3:30 with six to eight weeks off over the summer. The summer break is a long break but now I firmly believe that it's well deserved. For most of the year, teachers basically put their life on hold.

They may teach for about five hours a day but the rest of the time isn't spent being idle. Preparing lessons, marking students' work, doing paperwork and attending meetings can take about just as long; longer if you want to have a weekend off. That's about ten hours a day! When was the last time you did a ten-hours day? I say a hearty 'Well done!" to all the teachers out there and you go and enjoy your summer break; I know you're earned it.
