Dale Head is 753 metres or 2,470 feet high at the OS grid reference NY223153. Its coordinates are 54.52700° N 3.20208° W. It takes its name from its position at the head of the Newlands Valley which stretches for 3.5 miles north towards Bassenthwaite Lake.
The most popular ascent starts from the summit of Honister Pass. Alternatively, start in Little Town in the Newlands Valley and take in Dale Head as part of the Newlands Horseshoe.
